Both games in the NBA tonight were compelling matchups, as the Mavs hosted the struggling Suns while the Nuggets welcomed the Spurs to Denver.
Mavs 112, Suns 97-Dirk Nowitzki scored a season-high 39 points as the Mavs pounded the Suns in Dallas. The Suns looked lost despite the return of Steve Nash and Shaq. Nash played well, scoring 20 points and dishing out 10 assists in only three quarters. Shaq got worked over by Erick Dampier and finished with with only four points and five boards in 25 minutes. Jose Barea scored 18 points in his first start of the season for the Mavs. STAT led the Suns with 28 points, but had only five rebounds and was awful defensively as usual. Spurs 108, Nuggets 91-The Spurs surprised the Nuggs on Thursday in Denver, racing to a 20-point halftime lead and never looking back. Tony Parker led a balanced San Antonio attack with 22 points, Tim Duncan added 21 points, 12 boards, and seven assists, and Manu Ginobili scored a season-high 21. Melo scored points for the Nuggs, who looked flat coming off Tuesday’s 39-point thrashing of the Raptors.
