NBA TV to Give Fans Right to Vote

In MEDIA WEEK, Mike Shields reports “The National Basketball Association will once a week allow fans to vote on which games are televised during the upcoming season on NBA TV. Dubbed Fan Night, starting on Tuesday Oct. 28 fans can log onto NBA.com and vote for which game will be broadcast on the following Tuesday. The interactive fan vote will continue to decide which league game is televised on Tuesdays throughout the season (NBA TV will showcase a total of 96 games this year).”

Shaquille O’Neal Says He Will Retire After 2009-10 Season

Shaquille O’Neal, the perennial NBA All-Star, announced Wednesday that he will retire once his current contract expires in 2009-10.”My basketball career will be over in 735 days,” O’Neal told News 13 television in Orlando, Fla. “And being an educated man, I’ve always had things to fall back on. So one of my options is law enforcement.”O’Neal, who was drafted by the Orlando Magic, still maintains a house in Central Florida. He spoke of his possible future plans Wednesday with the kids at the Pine Hills Boys and Girls Club.Throughout his career, he has played with the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and currently the Phoenix Suns. During a past offseason, O’Neal went through the training with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Reserve Academy before becoming a reserve officer with the L.A. Port Police.
